The purpose of the role is to be responsible for managing the distribution operation efficiently and in line with company budgets whilst providing the highest levels of customer service. Also ensuring that company procedures, protocols and H&S are adhered to at all times.

  • Ensure all vehicle routes are planned effectively, maximising capacity and revenue per load.
  • Ensuring correct allocation of vehicles and trailers to drivers
  • Monitor drivers fuel consumption, MPG/idling, usage. Ensure that action is taken with relevant drivers on any under performance.
  • To be the named Transport Manager on the Operators License and ensure that the Operator License is maintained and we are kept in the Green on the OCRS Score.
  • To monitor and reduce vehicle repair damage costs working closely with the fleet Manager.
  • Create and manage KPIs to include; Vehicle accidents/incidents/breakdown, MPG by driver/ vehicle type and Revenue by pallet/mile.
  • Inspiring leadership of the team with a confident and engaging approach, bringing excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Use IT systems to manage transport and business costs (TomTom, Proteo)
  • Liaise with the Fleet Manager to Ensure that any servicing, MOT and vehicle repairs are arranged to be carried out evenings and weekends wherever possible to minimize any impact on fleet availability at peak working hours.
  • Manage all vehicle/drivers Tacho downloads and infringements.
  • Liaise with Compliance Manager to ensure Tachographs are calibrated every two years.
  • Liaise with the Fleet Manager to ensure that vehicles are updated on London Congestion charging website, DART charging, SNAP account and Mersey Flow.
  • Responsible for updating and managing Smart analysis and monitor driver working time report.
  • Liaise with Fleet Manager to Manage vehicle tracking, installs and de-stalls.
  • Monitor drivers fuel consumption, MPG/idling, usage. Ensure that action is taken with relevant drivers on any under performance.
  • Liaise with Fleet Manager and arrange all driver CPC training ensuring all drivers are fully compliant in line with CPC legislation.

You must hold a national and international CPC qualification.

Hours: Monday - Friday 50 hours
Weekends: 1 in 5 working on a rotation
