Our well establish client is looking to add a Production Manager (fabrication) to their team after winning a fantastic MOD contract. You will manage Operational elements of MOD Vehicle Production including management of production team. To ensure safety and environmental production standards are maintained and proactively addressed. To ensure the Vehicle programme is met within timescale, quality and cost demands. To continuously improve in all areas.


  • To deliver vehicles on time, to cost and at levels of quality compliant with programme demands.


  • To manage the production department in accordance with the Company’s Environmental, Health and Safety policies.

  • To maintain Quality System and Departmental Procedures relating to production and ensure that procedures are complied with.


  • To manage the recruitment, employee relations, training and control of all direct and indirect hourly paid employees, supervisory staff and apprentices.


  • To compile production plans to maximise labour usage and optimise material stockholdings, in line with contract delivery requirements and the master schedule.


  • Collate and analyse data; generation of production reports.


  • To initiate and manage improvement activities, including capital and continuous improvement projects, in conjunction with other Departmental Managers.


  • To manage the introduction of new products into production, in cooperation with other Departmental Managers.


  • To engage with Customer, Supplier, Shareholder and Partner organisations in the successful pursuit of the Programme.


Essential Criteria


  • Degree / HND in Manufacturing or Engineering discipline
  • 3 + years in Manufacturing Management
  • Current driving licence
  • Production Management experience in aerospace, Automotive or similar mechanical engineering business
  • Managing a team of workers
  • Production planning and scheduling
  • Leading and implementing Production Readiness Plans
  • New Production Introduction
  • Resource planning
  • Management of risk and risk mitigation
  • Project reporting including definition and collation of KPIs
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Computer skills (MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Factory maintenance and PM planning 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Safety in a Manufacturing environment
  • Completion of employee performance reviews  


Desirable criteria

  • Vehicle Fabrication and / or Vehicle Assembly
  • Structural Steel / armour plate welding experience 
  • IOSH / NEBOSH certificate
